Bartosz Kurek surprised us with his words about the role of a coach. "Once unimaginable..."

Bartosz Kurek is known for being a fascinating character, not only on the court but also off it. A volleyball player with vast experience, a wealth of awards, and, on top of all that, fully aware of the journey behind him and what lies ahead. His immediate future includes a return to health and playing for the national team.

Bartosz Kurek on his future. Surprising words about his role as a coach.

However, the Polish team must cope without their experienced attacker for now. The team captain took the opportunity to connect with his followers via Instagram, inviting them to a Q&A. A classic question-and-answer session, in which "Kuraś" answered several interesting questions.

“Do you see yourself as a coach after you finish your career?” was one of them.

"It used to be unimaginable, now I think I would probably enjoy it... but in a few good years," replied the captain of the Polish national team.

Kurek also touched upon the issue of which coach he is most grateful to – implicitly – for his development during such a rich volleyball career.

"Everyone, without exception – there are no bad coaches, even the worst one will tell you one interesting thing or simply teach you which approach doesn't work for you, and this is also important information," added "Kuraś".

Kurek will turn 37 in August of this year. He spent last season with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. After a year in the PlusLiga, the attacker will return to the Japanese league.

It's worth noting that Poland will begin the Nations League finals next week. The team, coached by Nikola Grbić, will face Japan in the quarterfinals. The tournament will be held in Ningbo Beilun, China.

Polish volleyball players are aiming for a fourth consecutive World Championship medal. Will they win gold?

The Nations League competition is an important stage in preparation for the most important event of the season in the national volleyball calendar: the World Championships, which will be held in the Philippines. Polish volleyball players will travel there as silver medalists.

During the 2022 event, interestingly, the Poles lost to Italy in the final at the Spodek Arena in Katowice. Poland has regularly brought home medals from the World Championships since 2014. Gold medals were won at the 2014 and 2018 tournaments, and silver at the 2022 tournament. And if you dig even deeper, in 2006 the Polish team finished runner-up – ushering in nearly two decades of great success.

The 2025 World Cup in the Philippines will be held from September 12-28.
